Description:  My Yuba Site series began by exploring the light and structure of the final site of the aged Yuba factory in Benicia before its demolition. At the same time I was awarded a label commission by Imagery Estate Winery, so this print Yuba Site 1 was the first exploratory print in my series, and labeled on their 2006 Malbec. Criteria for the commission was to incorporate some element of the parthenon structure that stands on the Benziger property. So the combination of an aged industrial building, a parthenon image, and light suggested enduring strength and the interlocking of time past and present. The light of dusk filtering through the broken Yuba structure implied shadows of older columns, and the shapes of detritus influenced a broken column echoing an oil drum form in the shadows. My print is about light and structure; about personal and historical memory; and a reflection of a California space. In 2016 Benziger Family Winery L.L.C. donated their Imagery Estate Winery Art collection to Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park CA.
