Description:  This commemorative work announces the entrance to east Austin and honors the spirit and philosophies of civil rights and labor leader Cesar Chavez. Three different lighting programs are designed to correspond to important dates in Chavez's life. The base of the sculpture bears the words: "The answer lies with you and me. It is with all men and women who share the suffering and yearn with us for a better world." The library contains Austin's largest repository of books and videos about his life.
