Description:  Glory Road, by artist Mike Mandel, is composed of two 15' 9" x 18' 3" mosaic murals custom designed for the newly constructed Sun Metro Glory Road Transit Terminal. In recognition of a historical moment in NCAA College Basketball, the public art piece commemorates Coach Don Haskins and the all-African-American line-up in the title championship game of 1966. The north wall mosaic design illustrates the excitement and grace of the game. Players from the Texas Western College Miners fill the background while Coach Don Haskin’s portrait sits as the central design element. Haskins image reflects a decision that changed the entire world of college basketball. While making direct eye contact with the camera, Haskins holds a basketball; a metaphor for the “globe” and his world-wide contribution.
