Description:  Floribunda, by Mark Calderon, is one of a series of works the artist made in the late nineties inspired by the hairstyles found in Japanese Buddhist sculpture in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. Much of his work from that period was inspired by religious images of ancient cultures and consisted of larger than life-size pieces "head-like in form" meant to be displayed on a wall. Floribunda is the only free-standing work from this series.(Courtesy of TriMet. For more information visit: http://trimet.org/publicart/greenline/index.htm)
