Description:  Burning endlessly in remembrance of the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, the Eternal Flame Memorial offers a centerpiece to Capitol Mall, just across Beretania Street from the Hawaii State Capitol Building. It features an abstract vertical freestanding statue, with bronze and copper curvilinear planes. A gas-fed flame burns atop the structure, which sits upon a circular concrete base forty feet in diameter and divided into pie-shaped parts with steps and ramps. The flame has continued to burn without pause since 1944.
