Description:  Artist Twyla Arthur created a mosaic cladding on the columns of the park pavilion based on traditional African designs. The neighborhood around Springdale Park is primarily African American and the artist intended for the design to create a bridge between this African heritage and present-day Austin. The artist worked with students from nearby Sims Elementary School to create mosaic tops for the tables in the playground nearby.
